The city of Wuxi is now showcasing a creative, albeit a little sneaky approach to attracting buyers and renters to a new building complex.

The city of Wuxi in China is showcasing a creative, albeit a little sneaky approach to attracting buyers and renters to a new building complex.

The first level of the structure has a long line of what appears to be storefronts that greet pedestrians. The problem is that all those quote unquote businesses are complete fakes.

Upon first glance, well known brands from across the world, like Starbucks, Apple and Zara - all have a presence. However a closer look reveals the names have been modified.

Take Apple for example, the sign reads “APPLA”. Starbucks is way off, spelled “S-F-F-C-C-C-K-S”.

Those suspicious and curious about the bizarre signs can peek inside the glass. At that point they realize it’s a hoax – the storefronts are completely empty.

Since photos of the street and building have surfaced online, Netizens haven’t been shy, making their displeasure known about the blatant form of trickery.

Web users are now referring to area as “shanzai street” which translates to “street of fakes”.
