We make a beer can chicken using Birmingham's local Good People Brown Ale and a brown sugar glaze! We wanted to go with a more flavorful beer than a basic domestic so we tried to pair some delicious tastes together. It worked out well!
The Glaze:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tbs olive oil
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/8 tsp ground red pepper
Whip it up with a fork and rub it all over your chicken.
Put the 1/2-3/4 full beer can into your chickens bottom and balance it upright in your oven as low as you can get your rack with something underneath to catch that juice. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on your oven and your chicky-doodle's size. Making a little foil tent for the top of your chicken might keep it from getting charred on top.
