Coral reefs are ecosystems that form in the
neritic tropical region. The neritic zone is
that portion near the coast that is under water at
shallow. Because of this, the solar light in these areas
reaches the bottom, allowing plants and algae
marine produce their own food through the process
photosynthesis. Due to waves and currents,
these areas receive a continuous flow of nutrients, which makes them
ideal habitat for a wide variety of aquatic species.
