2014 is expected to be a landmark year for the people of Afghanistan.

Foreign forces are due to withdraw and a presidential election is set to take place.

But the Taliban remain a threat and so do economic uncertainty and high unemployment.

Afghans living in Taliban controlled areas say they have to join either side of the fighting to be guaranteed a reliable pay cheque.
