ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
An estimated one and a half million people lined Sydney harbor for the annual firework spectacular on Tuesday night, according to the organizers.
This year, 7 tons of fireworks were ignited on the Harbor Bridge and at different locations around the city including, for the first time in a decade, on the sails of the Sydney Opera House, to create a 12-minute-long show, coordinated with lighting and music, the city council said.
More than a thousand fireworks were set off from the roof of the World Heritage listed Opera House, having been specially designed not to damage the building which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013.
Organizers estimated the fireworks display, costing well over $6 million would be watched by as many as a billion people around the world.
