Emergency services were called to this hotel in Tenerife after an explosion in a poolside bar on Friday.

Five people -- three of them British tourists -- were injured at the Bahia Principe hotel in Playa Paraiso.

Paramedics said a British woman suffered serious burns to her face and scalp. Her eight-year-old daughter and a British man were also treated .

(Local media reported that a Belgian and a Spaniard were also injured in the blast.)

The pool was reopened on Saturday and life has returned to normal at the hotel.

But it is not known what caused the expolosion, although local media claimed a beer gas canister had exploded.
