Protesters clash in Turkey in aftermath of corruption scandal

Protesters run from riot police in the streets of Turkey.

Water cannons follow suit, splitting the crowds into more factions.

This is only the latest in protests against the government after a deepening corruption scandal in the country.

In the capital Ankara, some of the protesters called on the government to resign.

(SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) TURKISH PROTESTER, HALUK SOLAK, SAYING:

"I am here to say stop robbing and plundering Turkey. I am here to condemn bribery and ask the government to resign."

The scandal involves accusations of wrongdoing at a state-run bank.

Two cabinet members have already resigned after their sons were arrested.

And another minister who quit said Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan knew what was going on and should resign as well.

One protester said he just wants the chaos to end.
