Mount Meru is located in Aursha's National Park Tanzania. It is south west of Kilimanjaro and lies to the east of the Great Rift Valley. It is considered to be the fourth highest mountain in Africa(after after Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, and the Rwenzoris)

It is estimated that Mount Meru exploded 500,000 years ago which destroyed its cone shape. Here Meru was left with a horseshoe crater, with the eastern side missing.
