Nelson Mandela’s body has been taken from the Union Buildings in Pretoria for the final time.

The coffin will be driven to an air base for a farewell ceremony for ANC members.

From there the former President of South Africa’s body will be flown to his ancestral home in Qunu, where his state funeral will be held on Sunday.

Madiba’s body lay in state in South Africa’s capital for three days, with at least 100,000 people visiting to pay their last respects.

Sunday’s funeral ceremony will end a week of commemorations.

People throughout South Africa have organised their own personal tributes. A church situated in the village where Mandela was born dedicated a special sermon to him.

His life has not only been celebrated in South Africa. France lit up the Eiffel Tower in its own special dedication to the Father of South Africa.
