Investigators probe deadly Asiana crash landing

A burned out cabin, a cloud of thick black smoke, and debris scattered all over the landing site.

The NTSB released this surveillance video showing the moment Asiana flight 214 crash landed at San Francisco International Airport in July.

Three people were killed and more than 180 passengers injured.

On Wednesday, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board opened a hearing to review what went wrong.

According to newly released documents, the pilots told investigators they knew the plane was traveling too slow and tried to correct it moments before landing.

SOUNDBITE: BILL ENGLISH, INVESTIGATOR-IN-CHARGE AT THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY BOARD, SAYING:

"About 11 seconds prior to impact, an audible alert (beeping sound made in hearing) consistent with the low airspeed caution was recorded... But the action was too late and the main gear of the underside of the aft fuselage struck the seawall."
