In an absolutely heartwarming report, a man has been reunited with his beloved dog thanks to the determined efforts of a homeless man. Teddy Tonne, who is a Vietnam War Veteran, was left devastated after his 6-month-old Rottweiler puppy named O.D. ran off and quickly went missing.
The duo spends lot of time together even traveling to Tucson from Alaska, where they spend the warmer months of the year.
On a recent Saturday night, Tonne quickly lost sight of the pup and realized there was no way he could keep up with him.
The dog had gotten lost and was darting in and out of traffic in a busy intersection. That’s when the homeless man came to the rescue.
John Benvenga went to the dog and took him under his wing. He looked at O.D.’s tags and saw he was from Alaska so the man contacted a friend of his who is also an animal advocate named Lizzie Mead.
Together the pair used the internet to find O.D.’s owner.
Tips began pouring in with names of potential owners. The duo then did some amateur detective sleuthing and finally they found Tonne.
