South Africans remember Mandela with praise and prayers

Remembering Nelson Mandela - a man who brought together what many call the 'rainbow nation' - South African President Jacob Zuma offers these words:

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT, JACOB ZUMA SAYING:

"That it was absolutely important that, as we as a nation and the world are mourning and remembering Tata..."

The Nation was in a day of mourning on Sunday for Madiba -- the clan name Mandela is endearingly called here.

He died Thursday at age 95.

Mandela was revered globally for pulling the nation out of the segregated apartheid regime, and into a multi-racial democracy.

His former wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, attended a church service for South Africa's first black president during the day of prayer.

Meanwhile, the sea of flowers continues to grow outside Mandela's former Johannesburg home.

And the mourners keep pouring in.
