Actor Paul Walker died in a fiery car crash Saturday afternoon in southern California.
The 40-year-old actor was a passenger in a friend's car... and was attending a charity event.
Walker's friend Jim Torp heard the accident.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) JIM TORP, FRIEND SAYING:
"Roger backed it into the garage and Paul jumped in and said hey, let's go for a drive. So they went for a little drive and this is what happened."
Sgt. Brian Allen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies arrived at the scene in Valencia, a community in Santa Clarita, to find the vehicle engulfed in flames. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

"It appears speed might have been a factor in the incident. It was a single car crash."
