In her divorce her attorney suggested a quit claim deed to clear her from the debt. Unfortunately for my wife she was unaware of the ramifications of the quit claim deed and is needless to say learning from her mistake of signing the doc. Her ex husband has since foreclosed on the house and now she has received a notice of deficiency. I'm curious what options she has. She can file for contempt of court against her ex which will do nothing. Does she have any legal recourse against this attorney? Or does she need to look into Bankruptcy as she/we can't afford the deficiency. -
