Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - As a creditor, how can you retrieve a proof of discharge on a debtors bankrupcy case? - Last year I worked for a short period with a business that was facing financial troubles(i wasn't aware of it at the time). I worked for about 6.5 weeks, but I only got paid for 2; I was using Bank of America when I deposited my first check, but a couple of days after depositing my first check I decided to change to Chase for unrelated reasons. So I withdrew all the money in my account, including the amount of my first check(so here I was thinking that I had been paid) and I put it in my new bank account. A couple of weeks went by and I got my second check, this time I deposited the check with Chase. A couple of days later I received a letter from Chase saying that the check was returned for insufficient funds. I talked to the owner of the business, and he paid me cash for my second check. Then on that same week(about 3-4 weeks after my first check), Bank of America sends me a letter saying that they want their money back from my first check because it was also returned(I don't know why they took so long to tell me this....) at this point he had only paid me for one check and now he owed me a third check. So I quit and I also filed a wage claim against him. These state agencies work so slow, so now almost 7 months later they still haven't set a hearing date. But I recently heard that my ex-employer filed for bankruptcy, and I need to know if he listed me as a creditor, and if so, I want to see proof. So I need to know how can I retrieve a proof of discharge? -
