Parents in Surry, Maine are furious after a bus driver was accused of using Hello Kitty duct tape on children’s mouths. Cathy Lewis, who is the Surry Elementary School principal, was alerted of the disturbing incident when two fourth grade students got off the bus and complained that they were forced to put duct tape over their mouths even though there were other kids who were making more noise.

Lewis quickly contacted the bus company, First Student, and asked for the matter to be looked into. The driver has been put on leave, pending the outcome of the inquiry.

As of now, the worker has denied taping the student’s mouths. Lewis, who is extremely troubled by the accusations, stated “It’s really important for kids to be able to trust their bus driver. That’s the first person they see that represents the school. I’ve had some incredible bus drivers who saw themselves as teachers of life.”

On the day the children came forward, Lewis decided to ride home on the bus with the kids to observe and make sure the driver wasn’t involved in any misconduct.
