A German court has temporarily dropped an investigation into a Roman Catholic cleric known as the ‘Luxury Bishop.’

The inquiry was based on accusations that Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst had lied under oath about taking a first-class flight to visit poverty projects in India.

His lavish lifestyle led to a scandal which has rocked Germany’s Catholic Church. The bishop has paid a 20,000 euro fine to end the case.
