Assuming that everyone is either picking the crisis in Libya or the War on Afghanistan, i decided that i will do something different and choose the education budget crisis that is going on in America. i am planning on writing how budget cuts are forcing public schools and colleges to cut classes, increase class sizes, and give out pink slips. in public schools it is causing sports and extra curricular activities to be cut, and are forcing some schools to think about cutting the school week down to four days. in colleges classes that are being cut force student to compete into getting in the classes they are required to take in order to graduate. It is so bad that even some junior colleges in California are filieing for bankruptcy leaving thousand of poor students who relied on inexpensive junior colleges left uneducated. So for these reasons i decided to write my paper on eduction because i found it quite sad that my high school can no longer afford to supply classrooms with staples, in order to save some money. the problem is, is that my teacher wants us to address the liberal and conservative sides of our topic(and i have no idea what those are) and he wants us to write a whole paragraph supporting the opposite sides arguments
MY QUESTION IS: what is the other peoples arguments on education budget crisis. i think that it is a topic that needs to be addressed. im also looking for possible solutions that might fix the problem: for example taxing the rich (top 5% of Americans) and using that money to go towards educational funds. again what would be any oppositional sides to this proposal and how do we fix the budget cuts on education? -
