In today's recurring segment, Nasty or Niiiice, we review the case of Kansas middle school teacher Amber Stroda. Amber used to teach 3rd grade at Solomon elementary until she resign following allegations that she had consensual sodomy with two 17 year old students. Later, the number of students was dropped to one, and the whole sodomy thing was thrown out, because that's not a crime anymore according to the US Supreme Court (the part about butts, not the part about sex with minors). She was charged and turned herself in back in February, and on November 13th Stroda plead guilty to three counts of consensual sex with a student over 16 years of age, for which she gets 15 weeks in jail, followed by 3 years of probation.

Ordinarily a jail term like that would be a galling to the family of the victim and advocates of child safety, and maybe it is, but seriously. If Kansas is cool with letting 16 year olds get it on with the general population, and this kid wasn't of Stroda's own students, then the only distinction is that she decided to straddle a 17 year old that didn't go to a different district's high school. So the legal line set at humping kids that don't live near you. If anybody has a problem with this case, they should probably take it up with Kansas. Maybe Stroda isn't at the top of the list of 'ideal teachers' (or maybe she is, this is Nasty or Niiiice after all) but there are plenty of teachers that have committed crimes way more heinous crimes than having sex with somebody who's 99% legal in their state. So, while she might not be allowed near the playground as long as Google still exists, we don't think she's all that bad. So we say, Niiiice!
