The number of young people buying homes or making significant residential changes has plummeted to the lowest number in 50 years.

The number of young people buying homes or making significant residential changes has plummeted to the lowest number in 50 years.

A report from the Associated Press revealed that only about 23 percent of Americans in the 25-29 age group moved in the 12 months preceding March of 2013. That’s down over one percent from the year before.

Plagued by the current economic conditions, many find themselves unable to progress forward with their life goals as they simply haven’t the financial means.

Whether it’s crushing student loan debt or a lack of jobs with a decent wage, droves of 20-somethings are finding themselves stuck in place.

Some are living with roommates and others have opted to ride out the tough times staying at their parents’ house.

Nowadays, more and more young people are waiting until they hit 30 or so before breaking away from the comforts of mom and dad’s.

Among those who are finding a way to make big changes, most are reportedly moving to Portland, Oregon, Austin, Texas and Houston, indicating that those are the areas with the most promising economies and opportunities.
