A pooch that was rescued during Hurricane Katrina is getting a fresh start. Trina has finally found a new home.

Roughly 8 years ago, the Shepherd mix was rescued after the massive storm. Thankfully she survived through the ordeal but the following years took an emotional toll as she was placed in a kennel with no human family in sight.

Today, she is 9 years of age. A local news outlet aired a story about Trina and how she never able to find that forever home. That report did the trick. John and Meghan Kizer saw it and immediately had a hunch they wanted to welcome Trina into their own home.

John stated “I was pretty much sold as soon as we met her.” Although Trina’s home is brand new, she is adjusting rather well. According to her owners, she frequently runs around the yard and rolls in the leaves.

She is also making it known the property is hers to roam, by barking at squirrels. That proves how content she is. Trina had reportedly never barked, not one time, while living at the kennel for 8 years.
