A competitive drinking game played in bars, beer pong is popular with college students who try to get table tennis balls into cups containing beer or water. Tournaments in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas are where a “sexual predator” is believed to have found several of his heterosexual college-aged victims over the last 10 years.

38-year-old real estate appraiser Joey Poindexter met his last victim through a College Park beer pong event. The case broke open when the man woke up one morning at Poindexter’s Gaithersburg home wearing another man’s shorts, and couldn’t remember anything after having a drink with Poindexter the night before. Suspecting he had been sexually assaulted, he reported the incident to police, and continued conversations with Poindexter who later confessed to having sex with the man.

Poindexter is being held in prison on $500,000 bond and his attorney declined comment.

Several victims have been identified while others have yet to be from the photos found on Poindexter’s phone. The men seemed in different states of consciousness and appeared “in compromising positions.”

Poindexter also frequently traveled out of state for extreme sporting events, and police are looking for victims in those locations as well.
