A woman in Boonton, New Jersey witnessed an unwelcome, terrifying sight after she took a glance out her living room window and saw a deer with an arrow stuck in its head.

Those who live in rural areas see deer on a regular basis.

But one woman in Boonton, New Jersey experienced an unwelcome, terrifying sight after she took a glance out her living room window and saw a deer with an arrow stuck in its head.

Susan Darrah first noticed the wounded creature on a recent Friday afternoon. She quickly contacted the state Division of Fish and Wildlife along with local animal control officers.

The injured deer disappeared after that first sighting but it made another appearance at about 5 pm on the same day and again on Saturday morning. According to Darrah, even though the animal had a massive arrow protruding the head near the jaw, it didn’t look to be in pain or scared.

She stated “I know a lot of hunters and I know that was nothing done intentionally. I'm sure if any hunter saw him, they would have been kind of enough to put him down.”

Biologists from the Department of Environmental Protection were soon able to catch up with the 5-month-old deer and successfully remove the arrow. The creature was treated with antibiotics and released into nearby woods.
