An 86-year-old woman was arrested for burning her disabled son, Akio Oishi, 55-year-old to death in his wheelchair in Shizuoka, Japan. Mrs. Oishi was suspected of burning her son with paraffin oil on a pedestrian bridge on the morning of November 6th. Witnesses who were passing by alerted the fire department, however they couldn't respond in time as the man was fully engulfed in flames and died of his burns at the scene.

A suicide note was later found near the scene and police suspect this was a murder-suicide pact gone wrong. Mrs Oishi has been charged and is jailed pending trial.
