A Parisian restaurant’s former hostess claimed that the owners’ rules are to seat the attractive people in the best, most visible seats while hiding the not-so-attractive in dark corners.

According to the report, the Costes brothers, who own the restaurant Le Georges, tell hostesses that the only exceptions are celebrities. The ex hostess went on to say that if she made the error of seating people who were not – in the owners’ eyes – sufficiently beautiful in the good seats, they were reprimanded and told, “it’s bad for the image of the place.”

Reportedly, Gilbert Costes specifically was very proud of their discriminatory rules and emphasized them repeatedly to staff.

Staff was told to evaluate callers for any “linguistic clues” into the person’s appearance, and, if needed, turn guests away saying they were “fully-booked” if the guests were not attractive enough upon arrival.

Even the hostesses must be younger than 30, be taller than 5 feet 7 inches, and have a model’s body.

A Le Georges spokesperson did not confirm or deny the seating rules, responding, “It's a little complicated to answer.”
