You would be amazed how absentminded some criminals can be. A man who allegedly burglarized a house located in Lake Worth, Florida was arrested after he left his cell phone at the crime scene. His mom later called and pointed the finger right at her son.

19-year-old Derek Codd reportedly broke into the home and stole the family’s valuables and personal belongings. Although he made off with those goods, he placed his cell phone on the homeowner’s kitchen counter and forget to take it with him when he left the residence.

Investigators had already seized the cell phone as evidence, so when it started ringing and the word ‘mom’ appeared on the caller ID, cops figured it was a golden ticket to find their suspect.

When asked, the mom gave police her son’s name. Law enforcement descended upon his house and ironically found the homeowner’s cell phone in Codd’s home. They also located a stolen shotgun from the burglarized home at a nearby abandoned residence.

A female, who was in Codd’s company had nearly 50 pieces of stolen jewelry in her purse, taken from the victims. The pair was arrested and charged with larceny and burglary.
