The new look Brooklyn Nets will hit the highway to open their 2013-14 regular season against the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA pro basketball game set for Wednesday night.
Tip off time from Cleveland is scheduled for 7PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by NBA TV.
The NBA odds from this opener for both teams have the road side Brooklyn Nets favored by –3 1/2 points with a total lined at 196 points.
The Brooklyn Nets finished off the 2012-13 season with a record of 49-33 and was fourth seed in the Eastern conference. Brooklyn faced the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the playoffs and despite with no Derrick Rose in the lineup the Nets were eliminated in seven games which forced a coaching change. Jason Kidd will coach the Nets this season. The team was active in free agency as they add former Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to a pretty good roster of players that include Brook Lopez and sharp shooter Joe Johnson.
The Cleveland Cavaliers finished off an injury riddled season with a record of 24-58 and finished as the 13th seed in the Eastern conference 14 games behind the eighth seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Joining Kyrie Irving in the backcourt is former Warriors Jarrett Jack who comes over to Cleveland in free agency. Irving and center Anderson Varajao were sidelined much of the season with injuries a year ago. Former LA Lakers Earl Clark is another new addition as well as first round pick Anthony Bennett from UNLV.
