Pretty much anything can become a target for desperate criminals.
One man in Chicago decided to swipe some carefully marinated meat from a restaurant located on the city's North Side. The odd incident occurred last month.
On September 16th, during the early morning hours, the male suspect entered the building through an adjacent alley. He passed through an iron gate and then walked into to the restaurant’s basement.
The man then entered the walk-in cooler, from which he stole nearly 400 pounds of meat. The cooler is where the chef of the eatery kept marinated meat overnight for use the following business day.
Surveillance footage captured the theft. The man could be seen attempting to sneak the meat away on a bicycle. When that didn’t work out, he grabbed an abandoned shopping cart, loaded it up pushed it down the street.
In total, 384 pounds of lamb, beef and chicken were stolen, resulting in a loss of between $800 and $900 for the restaurant. The suspect remains unknown. Following the incident police have issued a community alert about thefts in the area.
