Gunmen opened fire on a crowd in New Orleans on Sunday May 12th, injuring nineteen people, including two children.

The shooting happened during a Mother's Day second-line parade at around 1:45pm.
Police believe two or three people then started shooting "at, toward or in the crowd."
Officers allegedly next saw three suspects fleeing the scene.

One was described as a man aged between 18 and 22 with short hair, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Many of the victims suffered graze wounds, some by bullets that ricocheted. No deaths were reported.

FBI surveys rank violent crimes in New Orleans above the national average and a 2010 poll of city residents found crime to be their greatest concern.
