A roadside bomb killed 18 people on their way to a wedding party in eastern Afghanistan, most of them women.
The wounded, seen here, received treatment in Ghazni province.
The district governor had this to say:
SOUNDBITE (Pashto) DISTRICT GOVERNOR OF GHAZNI PROVINCE, QASIM DESIWAL, SAYING:
"A minibus driving on the road was hit by a roadside bomb which martyred 18 people, including fourteen women, three men and one child."
Civilian deaths due to roadside bombs are almost a daily occurrence in Afghanistan.
But Sunday's death toll was unusually high.
