This hood seems to be really sturdy and well made sleek design, powerful motor, solid state controls, bright frontmounted 35W (not 20W) halogen lights, and convenient features. My biggest gripe with it is that even though the Amazon description and online manual at Cavaliere says that the lights are dimmable, they are not they just turn on and off. The controls are somewhat nonintuitive (use "" or "" button to start the fan!) too, and for my purposes having a remote control is just silly (Im just waiting for the next Jay Leno joke about fat, lazy Americans). The hood has a clock feature (in 24hour display style only), but the LCD display is only lit when the hood is actually on, so thats pretty useless most of the time. Cavalieres model SV218B230 is less expensive, has dimmable lights and a 6speed fan, and is equally well made, so consider it too. http://garyadair.com/326177
