Most of us enjoy the occasional sights of birds near our homes.

However for residents in a neighborhood located in Fort Washington, Maryland, they are getting a much closer look and personalized experience with turkey vultures.

The birds are basically taking over the local area, using decks and roof tops as their own habitat. That is leaving many homeowners scared to go outside.

Residents are being woken up between 5:30 and 6 in the morning. One woman claimed the birds have ripped up her deck furniture.

The lady also noted the turkey vultures have learned the trash schedule, as rubbish cans are being continuously knocked over, the pickings rifled through. The end result is a street full of litter, left behind by the birds.

Families are forced to remain indoors as these vultures aren’t afraid of humans. Instead, locals claim the vultures lunge at them when confronted.

Desperate measures are needed to rectify the situation, however the turkey vultures are protected by the migratory bird act. Any permanent effort to get rid of them requires a special permit from the federal Fish and Wildlife Service.
