At least 50 people have been killed after a makeshift bus plunged 300 metres down a ravine in the Peruvian Andes.

Around a dozen children are among the dead. There were no survivors.

The passengers were travelling in a truck in La Convencion province due to a shortage of public transport. The cause of the accident is not known.
