Police in Jersey City are currently investigating a baffling case concerning a man who was recently found deceased in an apartment, under bizarre circumstances. At a little after 3:30 pm on October 8th, the Jersey City Fire Department arrived at 55 Corbin Ave to conduct a wellbeing check on a 66-year-old man.
Authorities forcibly gained entry into the apartment and discovered the elderly male. His decomposing body had been concealed under a pile of clothing and hardened concrete.
According to neighbors, the deceased man’s name is William Marshall. Before fully uncovering the body, firefighters were forced to chip away at what media sources called a “concrete box”.
Marshall’s remains had reportedly been placed in a black garbage bag. Law enforcement authorities believe that although Marshall lived alone, a relative, thought to be his stepson, may have been spending time at the apartment in recent times.
The case has not yet been ruled a homicide, as circumstances require further investigation, but police classify the death as suspicious.
A female neighbor also believed recent rent checks had not been signed in Marshall's writing.
