Blind man beaten in Philadelphia: witnesses do nothing as police search for suspect

The Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a black male suspect who beat a 33-year-old blind man in broad daylight. The incident was captured on camera and witnessed by at least four people, but no one has come forward with information.

According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday, October 2, at around 12:06pm and was captured by a surveillance camera at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Seymour Street in Philadelphia. In the video, the 33-year-old blind victim can be seen walking down Seymour toward Wayne. The suspect can be seen emerging from the corner store.

In next few frames from the video, the suspect can be seen striking and beating the victim, who has fallen to the ground. There are at least four other witnesses seen in the video, but no one does anything to intervene. Even as the victim lay helpless on the ground, the suspect continues to stomp and kick the blind man.

After the assault, the suspect grabs his bag and walks south on Wayne avenue. The suspect was last seen walking through a parking lot on Wayne Avenue toward Keyser Street. He was carrying a purple backpack.

The victim suffered multiple injuries to the face and head. According to police, the victim did not recognize the voice of his attacker.

The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-20s. He was wearing a tan colored baseball cap, tan shirt and khaki pants.
