Britain's Prince Harry joined Australia's Governor-General Quentin Bryce and Prime Minister Tony Abbott in Sydney on Saturday (October 5) as guest of honour at the centenary celebrations for the Royal Australian Navy.

The fourth in line to the British throne will inspect more than 20 warships from 17 countries marking 100 years since the Royal Australian Navy first entered the harbour.

Ships from China, United States, United Kingdom, France, India and Australia are taking part in the International Fleet Review (IFR).

On October 4, 1913, the first vessels of the new Australian navy were led into Sydney Harbour for the first time.

The prince will also hold a private function to meet a number of young Australians who have been recognised for helping others.

More than one million visitors are expected
