One man in China is currently living with two noses on his face, one of which is growing upside down, from his forehead, as part of a facial reconstruction procedure.

One man in China is currently living with two noses on his face - one of which is growing upside down, from his forehead.

The unidentified male reportedly encountered severe damage to his regular nose after a bad car accident. He later developed an infection, which destroyed his nasal cartilage and doctors were unable to fix his original nose.

Medical personnel decided to go for an innovative approach to correct the man’s problem - by growing a new nose on his forehead. A tissue expander was placed into the 22-year-old male’s forehead.

His skin was stretched and shaped to resemble a nose. Cartilage from his rib was then transferred to the skin underneath his forehead, which would allow the nose to grow properly.

Once the forehead nose is fully developed, it will be moved to where the current, defunct nose rests. The remaining skin flaps on the forehead will then be stitched together, leaving only a small scar behind.
