One man is in the middle of running across America as part of an initiative which will raise money for returning veterans.
Running isn’t just a hobby for some people. It’s a passion that can be used to bring awareness and raise money for a special cause.
One man is running across America to raise money for returning veterans. Sergeant Brendan O'Toole is behind the initiative named “The Run for Veterans”.
He averages about 15 miles per day. The run started in November of last year in California. O'Toole is still going, having made his way to Washington D.C.
By the time his run is complete, he will have covered about 3,600 miles across 21 different states. O’Toole stated “I wanted to run across the country, to see the country we protect and the people we protect, one stop at a time.”
24-year-old O’Toole served in the Marine Corps from 2008 to 2012. When he returned back home, he realized the problems veterans face including job worries and health issues.
O’Toole had a hard time keeping his frustration regarding such issues under control, so that’s when he decided to run, as a way to keep himself calm and financially support veterans.
Thus far, he’s been able to raise $200,000.
