In France, Boatmen companies are grouped mooring in a professional union, SPLMNA (The English Channel, North sea and Atlantic ports' boatmen association).
Exchanges are permanent and shared to enable the development of different structures experiences. Just over 400 boatmen plying their trade in all ports including 283 French trade within the union.
The mooring is an activity that requires control and precision. The evolution with the stars from the ship, tugs and dock can be dangerous depending on water and weather conditions encountered. A maneuvering error could be detrimental to stakeholders as the ship when a hawser had to engage in its propeller.
