Syrians make their own gas masks

Syrians worried about chemical weapons are taking matters in their own hands. They're making their own gas masks at this makeshift workspace in a house not far from Damascus suburb targeted with sarin gas on August 21rst.

SOUNDBITE: Ibrahim Shami, Syrian Volunteer saying (Arabic):

"We began manufacturing these masks after the chemical attack which killed more than 1,500 people. With our limited resources we were able to produce this protective mask that is made of cotton, coal, wax, and other similar material. God willing this mask will be effective and protect people."

Many here are volunteers.

"After Bashar Al Assad attacked us with chemical weapons, my friends and I saw them giving out the masks, so we wanted to help.
