Illegally built villas along the Mediterranean coast in France are being demolished.

The first to go down was the Santa Monica villa at Ramatuelle in the Var region.

It originally held a permit of 900 square metres but the final size ended up being twice as big.

Around another ten villas are expected to be pulled down over the next year following a state legal decision.
