Giving today's young musicians a run for their money - British music legend David Bowie is amongst the nominess for this year's prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
The 66-year old's new album ''The Next Day'' is one of 12 records in the running for the best British and Irish album of the year.
Debut dance quartet Rudimental have also made the shortlist and say being up against Bowie is surreal.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) Rudimental band members, Amir Amor and Kesi Dryden, saying:
"It's amazing man, I mean Spider from Mars - we're from Hackney, it's quite a different thing. But it's quite amazing to be in the same category. I never, ever, ever imagined that. I hope we beat him."
Laura Mvula's made the list too - with her record "Sing to the Moon".
Meanwhile it's a second time The Foals have been nominated.
At the event in London, there were performances from some of the nominees including James Blake.
