The unidentified male walked into the InterAsian Market and Deli with an envelope for the owner of the store.

The family considered calling an attorney to inspect the paperwork, fearing it may contain something sinister, but they eventually decided to take a chance and open it on their own.

A handwritten note was inside the envelope along with $300 in cash. The letter from the anonymous man described a crime that occurred in 2002 or 2003 when the male walked into the store and brandished a gun.

He stole exactly $300 from the register. The man claimed he was a drug addict, but he pointed out that he did not use anymore and just wanted to make things right.

The store owner was amazed by the gesture. His son, Mr. Wu took a photo of the note and posted it on Instagram.

Wu stated “You know, we get cynical. I get cynical ... a lot. But this just slaps you in the face. There are good people out there, and they deserve a second chance."
