What might seem like a wonderful work arrangement comes with some catches.

Some jobs that require consistent teamwork and collaboration would suffer if employees took extended vacations.

When there is no set amount of vacation time, it is more difficult for people to decide when to take their vacation and for how long.

Concord workplace consultant and author David DeLong said: “The paradox is people who are successful and driven enough to land jobs in these companies are likely to be overly responsible and hard working, so that they’re less likely to take the vacation even though it’s there. The workloads are so intense today that many employees feel that they can’t afford to take time off.”

The company called Hubspot has a one thousand dollar incentive that is offered to employees who take a week’s vacation somewhere else instead of a staycation, but the company’s CEO reportedly hasn’t taken a vacation for several years.
