A dog in Cape Town, South Africa was discovered in a shallow lake with his head stuck in a large jar. Workers from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA quickly arrived on scene to assist.

Animals often find themselves in awkward situations.

Recently a dog in Cape Town, South Africa was discovered in a shallow lake with his head stuck in a large jar.

The locals noticed him near a water treatment plant and contacted the rescue authorities.

Initially residents thought they had seen a dog with a dark colored bag over its head, however workers from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA quickly arrived on scene to assist and realized it was actually a container, resembling a bucket.

The staff members worked their way through shoulder deep, trash filled, cold water to recue the dog. They were able to gently pull the canine to safety.

On top of being terrified, the dog was also in shock, emaciated and starving. SPCA authorities believe the animal had been abandoned by previous owners.

It’s currently thought he was dumped at the site and left for dead. SPCA veterinarians were able to successfully remove the container and he was finally able to see and breathe properly.

The dog will receive all necessary medical care and treatment while the circumstances surrounding the incident are investigated.
