Tom Hardy unveils new role at Venice

STORY: Actor Tom Hardy on Monday (September 2) presented his low-budget, real-time drama "Locke" at the Venice film festival where the movie is screening out of competition. In "Locke" Hardy's character Ivan Locke receives a phone call that starts a series of events that transform his life - all in the course of a two-hour car ride. Apart from the opening scene which sees Locke enter his car outside the construction site where he works, the entire film takes place in his car. Locke, who continuously makes and receives phone calls on his hands-free, is on a mission to correct past wrongs and clear his family name tarnished by the actions of his father. In-between phone calls he also speaks to his dead father as he seeks to justify his actions. Hardy, a father of one, said Locke's righteous intentions had hit close to home.
