Demonstrators in the United States denounce a proposed military strike on Syria - objections that come as America readies for an attack on the war-torn country.

Protesters here in Philadelphia called on the administration of President Barack Obama to hold off on military action.

They want to wait for the results of a U.N. investigation into claims that Syria's government used chemical weapons on civilians.

"Before we pre-emptively go to war, we need to have enough information to make an informed decision."

Similar protests were held across the country, including in New York, Atlanta, and here in San Francisco.

"Well we are out here again today to try to stop a new war in the Middle East before it starts."

The demonstrations come after U.S. officials accused Syria's government of killing over 1,400 people in a chemical weapons strik
