Mexico's Pacific resort town Acapulco was shaken by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake, causing cracks in buildings which swayed under the strain as far away as Mexico city.

Eight strong aftershocks continued during the morning rush hour. However, there were no reports of injuries as many ran to safety in the open air.
