The bodies of 25 off-duty police officers killed by suspected Islamist militants in northern Sinai have been flown back to a military base in Cairo.

The attack was the deadliest in years in a region where Egyptian military have been engaged in a long-running battle against extremists.

The men were apparently forced from the two mini buses in which they were traveling and executed.
