As the majority of our users on Jailbreak Evasi0n are already aware, when Apple issued the latest public 6.1.3 firmware (for all iOS devices aside from the iPhone 5), the company effectively patched the key vulnerabilities evasion exploited to achieve an UnTethered iOS 6 jailbreak. Unfortunately newer devices, including the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad mini, iPad 2 and the iPod touch 5th generation, that have not been updated to iOS 6.1.3 are regrettably stuck on the updated firmware without a jailbreak iOS 6.1.3. Due to the relatively insignificant nature of iOS 6.1.3, the developers behind the creation of jailbreak tools have simply issued a public jailbreak for 6.1.3 in order to preserve the easily-patchable exploits for iOS 7 in future.

With all of iOS 7′s exciting new features and its system-wide user interface redesign, it seems as though the update will be worth to jailbreak. But before jailbreaking for iOS 7 you at any cost have to go a jailbreak of iOS 6.1.3. Apple’s iTunes update security flaw still allows for any iDevice to update to the 6.1.3 firmware without being properly registered. Needless to say, the number of devices running on iOS 6.1.3 are higher than ever – likely because of the UDID update loophole.
Our question to you, our readers, out of pure curiosity, is simple: would you update from 6.1.2 or an earlier version of iOS 6 to Apple’s latest and greatest iOS 6.1.3 firmware, knowing full well that you’ll forfeit your ability to jailbreak? We’d love to hear what you think regarding the situation in the comment section below.
